Autumn Term 2
We started our second topic on Halloween as the children were starting to discuss this after seeing items in the shops.
We began out topic with a talking box to find out what the children knew already and what they wanted to find out about. Over the next four weeks the children practiced many skills including:
Enjoying stories and songs about Halloween including 'Room on the Broom' and 'In the witch's kitchen'
Creating spider webs pictures and exploring the environment looking for spiders and their webs
Working collaboratively and solving problems to create broomsticks on small and large scales
Creating potions and writing spells
Exploring pumpkins- weighing, counting and carving
Autumn Term 1 2021
Our first topic was all about dinosaurs. We knew that most children entering our setting enjoyed dinosaurs. We used a talking box to discuss what they knew and find out what they wanted to learn about.
The children took part in many activities including:
Finding out where dinosaurs live
Printing and mark making dinosaur pictures
Examining dinosaur teeth and our own teeth
Look at dinosaur bones
Exploring how dinosaurs move
Listening to dinosaur songs
June 2021
Reception class went to visit Smithlls farm in Bolton. They had a great time looking at, holding and feeding the animals.
RECEPTION
Over the last 5 weeks we have been watching our caterpillars grow bigger and bigger. They turned into cocoons and then into butterflies. On the 7th June we let them free. They were very friendly butterflies.
