DESIGN TECHNOLOGY

 

DT Intent: 

At St Benedict’s Catholic Primary School, through the Design and Technology curriculum we aim to:

  • To develop the skills required to participate successfully in a rapidly changing technological world.
  • To develop and apply a repertoire of knowledge, understanding, vocabulary and skills in order to design and make high-quality prototypes and products for a wide range of users and purposes.
  • To select and use a wide range of tools and materials.
  • To critique, evaluate and test their ideas/ products and the work of others including their peers and external companies.
  • To become creative thinkers, learners and problem solvers exploring their ideas and recording their experiences as individuals and members of a team.
  • To learn about working safely and using protective measures.
  • To develop an interest in and an understanding of technological processes and the role of manufacturing in society by exploring the man-made world and encouraging discussion on how we live and work within it.
  • To understand and apply the principles of nutrition, healthy eating and learn how to cook.
