Year 3

In Year 3 we looked at the female inventor Maria Beasley. We our work by researching who she was and what she invented. Using our research we created information posters about Maria Beasley. We discovered that she invented the improved design of the life raft by adding guard rails to the sides. After talking about her new design and what impact this had we decided to test it out for ourselves. The children all created their version of a life raft using lollipop sticks. We used the rectangle shape Maria Beasley designed and added the guard rails. Finally, we tested our rafts out on water and made sure it was strong enough to hold character too. Luckily all our life rafts floated!
